This is the flagship tour of Nabekura Highlands Mori no Ie. You will walk with a guide along a woodchip-covered promenade, observing various plants and creatures that change with the seasons, and also exploring the beech forest that Nabekura Highlands are known for. The walking distance is about 1.5 km. The beautifully maintained promenade can be enjoyed by anyone, from small children to the elderly. *During the remaining snow season, you may need to wear boots or snowshoes.
Beech forest close to villagers' lives
The surrounding beech forests are around 100 years old. Once called “useless trees,” beech forests are now one of the few precious assets in the area.
Visitors can also catch a glimpse of people's daily lives at the site where they used to pick silver grass kaya for roofs of houses.
